“Tell me something I don’t know”. A spin on what photography should be. I like it! Makes sense no?

The Olympus E-P1

June 18, 2009 | Filed Under ilike, photography | 1 Comment

It’s been forever since I’ve blogged something here… April. Anyways, to get things going again,.. let’s talk about the Olympus E-P1.

How awesome is this camera? This baby is gonna rock and redefine the photography world. It’s nearly perfect for all my needs. Small, compact and quiet. I love the sleek, svelte silhouette inspired by the classic Olympus Pen F. They really don’t make cameras like these anymore. Olympus has once again proven that it is brave and visionary enough to go against the grain.

I am a firm believer that how a camera works, feels and operates are key to the process. For me. Just a few ideas that I wish the M4/3 series will grow to embody:

1. A collection of really awesome primes. Primes rock. Make them small. Make them fast. Nuff said!

2. A really awesome LCD screen. High resolution. Minimum blackout. If it’s gonna be our primary framing/focusing device for the future, make it great. Minimum blackout, just like a rangefinder’s viewfinder, so that we are not interrupted when we shoot..

3. Really clean, easy-to-use, simple ergonomics. Don’t make us go into the menus! Put all the important controls on the outside. Dials, levers. Keep it simple. Keep it beautiful.

Will I get it? Hell yea! Bring on the primes!

Nothing is original.

“Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is non-existent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery - celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said, ” It’s not where you take things from - it’s where you take them to.”

What an awesome site. It’s simply amazing to see what life is like in Russia. Cool, bizarre and just cool, in a very soviet way. English Russia.

I hope you feel things that you never felt before.

Now is that a killer look or what! It’s really quite a beautiful movie.. acting, cinematography, the script, and you don’t say that about just any movie. One of my favourite bits of The Curious Case of Benjamin Button..

For what its worth, its never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be.

There’s no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing.

We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it.

I hope you see things that startle you.

I hope you feel things that you never felt before.

I hope you meet people with a different point of view.

I hope you live a life that youre proud of.

And if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

And the amazing ending. Aww.

Kickass sailboat FTW. :D

Coco

This is really random but looking at these Coco taxies from Cuba (how cool is that!), just makes me happy. Hahahahaa. It’s a tuk-tuk basically, or what wikipedia calls an auto-rickshaw, that looks like a cross between a bleached-yellow American football helmet, and an a mutant coconut thing. Very cool.

Explore my quickie google images search to see what I mean!
